Experience one of the most rewarding trekking routes in Indonesia with the Rinjani Trekking 3 Days 2 Nights Sembalun to Torean package. This journey is designed for adventure seekers who want to explore the best highlights of Mount Rinjani in a well-paced and unforgettable way.

The trek begins in Sembalun Village, where wide open savanna landscapes welcome you with stunning sunrise views. On the second day, you will have the option to reach the summit of Mount Rinjani (3,726 meters) for a breathtaking sunrise experience above the clouds. Afterward, the descent takes you down to the lake, where you can relax in natural hot springs and enjoy the peaceful surroundings.

The final day offers a completely different atmosphere as you trek down through the Torean route. This path is known for its lush forests, waterfalls, rivers, and dramatic cliffs—making it one of the most scenic descents on the mountain.

This package includes experienced guides, porters, camping equipment, and meals, ensuring a safe and enjoyable trekking experience. It is the perfect combination of adventure, nature, and cultural experience, making it a top choice for travelers visiting Lombok.

Route Sembalun to Torean

The trek begins in Sembalun Village, where hikers pass through wide savanna landscapes before reaching the Sembalun Crater Rim. From this point, trekkers can continue to the summit of Mount Rinjani for an unforgettable sunrise. After descending to Segara Anak Lake, you will enjoy a relaxing break at the natural hot springs. The journey then continues through the Torean route, known for its lush tropical forests, waterfalls, and scenic river valleys. Compared to returning via Sembalun, this descent offers a more varied and visually stunning experience, making it one of the best routes on Mount Rinjani.

Level of Difficulty

The Rinjani Trekking 3D2N Sembalun to Torean route is considered moderate to challenging, depending on your physical condition and trekking experience.

The first day involves a steady uphill hike through open terrain, which can be hot and exhausting due to limited shade. However, the trail is gradual and manageable for most trekkers with a basic level of fitness.

The second day is the most demanding, especially if you attempt the summit. The summit push starts early in the morning and includes steep, sandy, and slippery sections. This part requires strong endurance, determination, and mental strength.

After the summit, the descent to Segara Anak Lake can be tough on the knees, but it is balanced by the chance to relax in natural hot springs.

The third day through Torean is physically easier but longer. The trail includes forest paths, river crossings, and some technical sections, but overall it is less steep compared to the ascent.

Preparation is important. Regular exercise, proper gear, and a positive mindset will help you enjoy this trek. While challenging, the reward is truly worth it.

Mount Rinjani Trekking 3 Days 2 Nights – Sembalun to Torean Day 1

Your Mount Rinjani trekking 3 days 2 nights adventure begins in Sembalun Village, a beautiful valley located at around 1,100 meters above sea level. Surrounded by rolling hills and farmland, this area serves as the starting point for the popular Sembalun to Torean trek.

The Sembalun route is well known for its wide-open savannah landscape. Unlike the dense forest of the Senaru route, this trail offers expansive views from the very beginning, making it a favorite for trekkers who enjoy open scenery.

Easy Start Across Sembalun Savannah

The first stage of the Mount Rinjani Sembalun route follows a gentle incline through open grasslands. This section is perfect for warming up, allowing you to find a comfortable pace while enjoying fresh mountain air and stunning panoramic views.

As you continue hiking, the trail gradually becomes steeper. The terrain starts to feel more challenging, especially under the sun, as there is limited shade along the savannah. Therefore, staying hydrated is essential during this part of the trek.

Steady Climb to Sembalun Crater Rim

After passing Pos 3, the trail changes significantly. The final ascent to the Sembalun Crater Rim is the most demanding section of Day 1. This uphill climb requires good stamina and determination, but the reward at the top is truly unforgettable.

Once you reach the crater rim, you will be welcomed by breathtaking views over the Rinjani caldera. From here, you can see Segara Anak Lake and the surrounding volcanic landscape stretching far into the distance.

Overnight at Sembalun Crater Rim

By late afternoon, you will arrive at your campsite at approximately 2,639 meters above sea level. This first day of the Rinjani trekking 3 days 2 nights Sembalun to Torean covers around 9–10 km with significant elevation gain.

As the sun sets, the sky transforms into dramatic colors over the crater, creating one of the highlights of your Mount Rinjani trekking experience.

After enjoying dinner prepared by your trekking team, take time to relax and soak in the peaceful mountain atmosphere. On clear nights, the sky is filled with stars, offering a perfect ending to your first day before continuing your Sembalun to Torean trek the next morning.

From the summit, you will enjoy breathtaking panoramic views across Lombok. On clear mornings, you can even see Bali and Sumbawa in the distance. Looking down at Segara Anak Lake from above is one of the most iconic views of the Rinjani trekking experience.

Descent to Crater Rim and Segara Anak Lake

After sunrise, you will descend back to the Sembalun crater rim, where a well-earned breakfast awaits. This break gives you time to rest and recover after the early climb.

Later in the morning, the journey continues as you descend into the caldera toward Segara Anak Lake. This part of the Sembalun to Torean trek offers dramatic views of cliffs and volcanic landscapes. Some sections are steep, so careful footing is important.

Our Small-Group Mount Rinjani Trekking Experience

At Jou Trekking, we focus on delivering a more personal and enjoyable Mount Rinjani trekking experience by keeping our groups small and well-organized. This approach allows every hiker to fully enjoy the journey, with better support, flexibility, and comfort on the mountain.

Small Groups for a Better Experience

We intentionally limit the number of participants on each trek to maintain quality and safety. Most of our groups include 4–5 trekkers, with a maximum of 6 people per trip.

With fewer people, our guides can give more individual attention, adjust the pace when needed, and create a more relaxed trekking environment. This makes a big difference, especially on challenging sections like the summit push.

Friendly and Well-Balanced Groups

Whether you’re traveling solo, as a couple, or with friends, we carefully organize groups to ensure a good mix of participants.

Many of our guests come from different countries, creating a social and welcoming atmosphere. It’s common for trekkers to start as strangers and finish the journey as friends, sharing an unforgettable adventure together.

Professional Local Guides and Porters

Every trek is supported by a skilled local team with extensive experience on Mount Rinjani. Our guides are trained in safety procedures and mountain navigation, while our porters handle all logistics, including camping gear, food, and equipment.

This allows you to focus on the experience — enjoying the scenery, the climb, and the overall adventure — without worrying about the details.

Support Team Structure

We carefully arrange our team based on group size to ensure comfort and efficiency throughout the trek:

  • 4 trekkers: 1 guide + 4 porters
  • 5 trekkers: 2 guides + 5 porters
  • 6 trekkers: 2 guides + 6 porters

This balanced setup ensures you receive enough support while maintaining a smooth and enjoyable trekking pace.

More Than Just a Trek

Climbing Mount Rinjani is not only about reaching the summit — it’s about the entire journey. From stunning crater views to the unique experience of camping under the stars, every moment is part of the adventure.
