Rinjani Trekking 3D2N Sembalun to Torean

The Rinjani trekking 3D2N Sembalun to Torean route is one of the most popular Mount Rinjani trek packages for travelers seeking a complete and unforgettable adventure in Lombok. This 3 days 2 nights Mount Rinjani trek combines the thrill of reaching the summit with the beauty of Segara Anak Lake and a scenic descent through the hidden Torean Valley.

Starting from Sembalun Village, this Rinjani summit trek begins with a gradual hike across open savanna landscapes. The wide grassy plains and rolling hills offer stunning panoramic views, making it one of the most enjoyable introductions to Mount Rinjani trekking in Indonesia. As you gain elevation, the terrain shifts dramatically, revealing the massive crater rim and the deep caldera below.

A major highlight of the Mount Rinjani 3D2N trekking package is the early morning push to the summit. Trekkers begin before sunrise, hiking under the stars to reach the 3,726-meter peak. Standing at the top of Mount Rinjani, you’ll witness a breathtaking sunrise with views stretching across Lombok, the Bali Sea, and even Mount Agung on clear mornings—an iconic moment of any Rinjani hiking tour.

After descending from the summit, the journey continues down to Segara Anak Lake, a key highlight of any Rinjani crater lake trek. Surrounded by steep volcanic walls, the lake’s turquoise waters create a peaceful setting to rest and recharge. Trekkers can enjoy lunch by the lake and visit the nearby natural hot springs, a perfect way to relax after the challenging summit climb.

The final stage of the Rinjani trekking Sembalun to Torean route offers a completely different atmosphere. The trail leads through the lush and scenic Torean Valley, often considered the most beautiful descent on the mountain. Along the way, you’ll pass tropical forests, bamboo groves, rivers, and hidden waterfalls, showcasing a softer and greener side of Mount Rinjani National Park trekking.

Unlike standard routes that return the same way, this Sembalun to Torean trek crosses the mountain from east to north, giving trekkers a diverse and ever-changing landscape. From savanna plains and volcanic ridges to crater lakes and jungle valleys, each day offers a new perspective of Mount Rinjani hiking.

This Rinjani 3D2N trekking tour is ideal for adventurous hikers who want to experience the best of Mount Rinjani in a shorter timeframe. With its combination of summit views, lake exploration, and the scenic Torean descent, it remains one of the most recommended Rinjani trekking packages in Lombok.

Your journey to Mount Rinjani begins in Sembalun Village, a wide valley surrounded by rolling hills and farmland at around 1,100 meters above sea level. This route is known for its open landscapes, where the trail cuts through sweeping savannah instead of dense forest, giving you uninterrupted views from the very start.

The first section of the hike follows a gentle incline across grassland paths. It’s a comfortable introduction to the trek, allowing you to find your pace while enjoying the expansive scenery and fresh mountain air. As you continue higher, the terrain gradually becomes steeper and more physically demanding.

After reaching Pos 3, the character of the trail changes significantly. The final climb to the Sembalun Crater Rim is the most challenging part of the day, with a steady uphill ascent that requires stamina and determination. However, every step is worth it once you reach the top.

At the crater rim, you’ll be rewarded with spectacular panoramic views across the Rinjani caldera. From here, you can look down to Segara Anak Lake and see the surrounding volcanic landscape stretching into the distance.

By late afternoon, you’ll arrive at your campsite at approximately 2,639 meters after trekking around 9–10 km with significant elevation gain. As evening approaches, the changing light over the crater creates a dramatic sunset — one of the highlights of the entire experience.

After dinner prepared by your trekking team, take some time to relax and enjoy the peaceful mountain atmosphere. On clear nights, the sky fills with stars, offering a perfect end to your first day before resting for the early summit ascent.

Day 2 – Summit Sunrise, Segara Anak Exploration & Torean Valley Trek

Day two is the highlight of your Rinjani adventure, combining the excitement of reaching the summit with the beauty of the crater lake and the hidden valleys of the Torean trail. It’s a long but incredibly rewarding day filled with diverse landscapes and unforgettable moments.

Your day begins in the early hours, around 2:00 AM, when your guide wakes you with a warm drink to help you prepare for the summit push. After a short briefing and gear check, you’ll start hiking under the stars, following a steep trail of volcanic sand and loose scree toward the top.

The climb can be demanding, especially on the final stretch, but reaching the summit of Mount Rinjani (3,726 m) just in time for sunrise makes every step worthwhile. As daylight breaks, you’ll be rewarded with breathtaking views across Lombok, and on clear mornings even as far as Bali and Sumbawa. Looking down into the vast crater and Segara Anak Lake from above is a truly unforgettable sight.

After spending time at the summit for photos and rest, you’ll carefully descend back to the Sembalun crater rim. A freshly prepared breakfast awaits at camp, giving you a chance to recover and recharge after the early climb.

Later in the morning, the journey continues as you descend into the caldera toward Segara Anak Lake. The trail offers dramatic perspectives of the surrounding cliffs and the turquoise lake below, though some sections require careful footing.

Once at the lakeside, you’ll have time to relax and enjoy the peaceful surroundings. A visit to the natural hot springs is highly recommended — the warm mineral water is perfect for soothing tired muscles after the summit hike. While you unwind, your trekking team prepares lunch by the lake.

In the afternoon, the adventure continues along the Torean route, known for its lush scenery and more secluded atmosphere. The trail winds through green valleys, alongside rivers, and past several waterfalls. Compared to the open slopes of the previous day, this section feels more tropical and shaded, offering a completely different side of Rinjani.

By late afternoon, you’ll reach your campsite near the impressive Penimbungan Waterfall. Surrounded by forest and cliffs, it’s a peaceful place to rest after a full day on the mountain. Dinner will be served at camp, and you can relax and enjoy the sounds of nature before a well-earned sleep.

After breaking camp, you’ll follow the trail down into the Torean Valley—often considered one of the most beautiful parts of the entire trek. The path weaves through steep terrain, narrow ridgelines, and dense tropical forest, requiring careful footing along the way.

As you descend, the landscape continues to impress. You’ll pass cascading waterfalls, cross small rivers, and walk beneath towering bamboo groves, all while taking in wide views of the valley below. Compared to the previous days, the pace is more relaxed, allowing you to fully absorb the natural beauty and reflect on your Rinjani experience.

Our Small-Group Mount Rinjani Trekking Experience

At Jou Trekking, we focus on delivering a more personal and enjoyable Mount Rinjani trekking experience by keeping our groups small and well-organized. This approach allows every hiker to fully enjoy the journey, with better support, flexibility, and comfort on the mountain.

Small Groups for a Better Experience

We intentionally limit the number of participants on each trek to maintain quality and safety. Most of our groups include 4–5 trekkers, with a maximum of 6 people per trip.

With fewer people, our guides can give more individual attention, adjust the pace when needed, and create a more relaxed trekking environment. This makes a big difference, especially on challenging sections like the summit push.

Friendly and Well-Balanced Groups

Whether you’re traveling solo, as a couple, or with friends, we carefully organize groups to ensure a good mix of participants.

Many of our guests come from different countries, creating a social and welcoming atmosphere. It’s common for trekkers to start as strangers and finish the journey as friends, sharing an unforgettable adventure together.

Professional Local Guides and Porters

Every trek is supported by a skilled local team with extensive experience on Mount Rinjani. Our guides are trained in safety procedures and mountain navigation, while our porters handle all logistics, including camping gear, food, and equipment.

This allows you to focus on the experience — enjoying the scenery, the climb, and the overall adventure — without worrying about the details.

Support Team Structure

We carefully arrange our team based on group size to ensure comfort and efficiency throughout the trek:

  • 4 trekkers: 1 guide + 4 porters
  • 5 trekkers: 2 guides + 5 porters
  • 6 trekkers: 2 guides + 6 porters

This balanced setup ensures you receive enough support while maintaining a smooth and enjoyable trekking pace.

More Than Just a Trek

Climbing Mount Rinjani is not only about reaching the summit — it’s about the entire journey. From stunning crater views to the unique experience of camping under the stars, every moment is part of the adventure.
