Your adventure begins with an early breakfast before a comfortable transfer to Sembalun Village (1,100 m), the starting point of your Mount Rinjani trek. Upon arrival, you’ll complete registration and a health check at the Rinjani Information Center before beginning the hike.

The trek starts with a gentle ascent across wide-open savanna, offering scenic views and a relaxed introduction to the journey. You will pass Pos 1 (1,300 m) and continue to Pos 2 (1,500 m), where you can take a short rest.

Savanna Trail and Lunch Break

The trail continues gradually to Pos 3 (1,800 m), a common lunch stop surrounded by peaceful grassland. This section is steady and manageable, allowing you to conserve energy before the more demanding climb ahead.

Ascent to Sembalun Crater Rim

After lunch, the trail becomes steeper as you ascend toward the Sembalun Crater Rim. This part of the trek is more challenging but incredibly rewarding.

By late afternoon, you’ll arrive at the crater rim (2,639 m), your campsite for the night. From here, take in spectacular panoramic views of Mount Rinjani, enjoy a stunning sunset, and relax under a sky full of stars — a perfect end to your first day.

Your day starts early, around 2:00 AM, as you wake up to the crisp mountain air. After a warm drink and light snack, you’ll prepare for the most challenging and rewarding part of your journey—the ascent to the summit of Mount Rinjani (3,726 m).

With headlamps lighting the way, the trek begins under a sky full of stars. The first section of the trail is a steady climb, allowing you to find your rhythm. As you gain elevation, the terrain becomes steeper and more demanding, especially near the top where loose volcanic gravel makes each step more challenging.

Reaching the summit at sunrise is an unforgettable experience. From the top, you’ll be rewarded with panoramic views stretching across Lombok, Bali, and Sumbawa. Below, the stunning Segara Anak Lake sits within the crater, creating one of the most iconic landscapes in Indonesia.

After enjoying the views and taking photos, you’ll descend carefully back to the Sembalun crater rim, where breakfast will be waiting at camp. Following a well-deserved rest, the journey continues down toward the lake along a steep and sometimes slippery trail.

By early afternoon, you’ll arrive at Segara Anak Lake and settle into your lakeside campsite. The rest of the day is yours to relax and enjoy the surroundings. Begin the day with a peaceful and unhurried morning at Segara Anak Lake, one of the most serene spots within Mount Rinjani. Take time to explore the lakeshore, enjoy a refreshing swim, or relax in the nearby natural hot springs while soaking in the surrounding volcanic scenery.

After a relaxed morning, lunch will be served at the lakeside camp before preparing for the afternoon trek.

In the early afternoon, continue your journey with a steady climb toward the Senaru Crater Rim (2,641m). The ascent can be challenging, but it is incredibly rewarding, offering constantly changing views over the vast caldera, the turquoise lake below, and the dramatic volcanic terrain.

Upon reaching the crater rim, you’ll be welcomed by one of the most spectacular viewpoints on the mountain. As sunset approaches, watch the sky shift through vibrant colors while Mount Agung rises on the distant horizon. Below, wisps of smoke from the active cone add a striking and unforgettable atmosphere.

The trail leads down through lush tropical rainforest, where the temperature becomes cooler and the landscape shifts to dense greenery. Along the way, you may spot local wildlife, including the island’s distinctive black monkeys.
